Krishna Art - visions of the blue god
Vintage Mini Prints in handmade tin frames
Invoked by Hindus at the start of every rite, every journey, every beginning. He clears the path of obstacles, aligns you with the order of the cosmos, and brings blessing to successfully complete the undertaking. No wonder he's so popular!
These come from a clever fellow in Udaipur, Rajasthan, with an eye for Indian vintage, retro and kitsch. Tiny prints to display alone or in a group, in distressed tin frames with fold-down hangers.
Madhubani - village art from Bihar (india)
We only have one piece to offer right now, but there will be more, as we dig through our archives, so check back. Once done exclusively by women on walls and floors, it was hardly known to the outside world until the late 20th century.
fine art, folk art, prints,
kitsch and ephemera
Lord Krishna is the subject of so much art partially because he takes so many forms. He is worshipped as an infant, as a child, a teenager, a lusty youth, a warrior, and a great king, among other forms. He is himself an avatar of Vishnu, which may explain his blue color (there are various theories about that).
